i want to draw attention to this because i think it sums up the state of things. the transgender legal project, a uk-based group, is shutting down because conservatives have changed tactics. it no longer matters what the law says. arguing on the basis of law only lets them know which laws to rewrite.

make no mistake, this is exactly what the republicans are doing in the US. law, science, and medicine have always been weaponized against minorities and the poor in this country. the conservative project now is to make sure it stays that way, rejecting “woke” ideas like bodily autonomy and consent.

it’s tempting to laugh at mad statements like “there are no pronouns in the bible.” but i want everyone to understand the thinly veiled threat behind such fanatical nonsense. if reality is at odds with dogma, dogma will go to war against reality, and we will all suffer for it.
